Why a Professional Data Center Cleaning during and after construction is important!

We hope your 2016 is off to a great start and that you are ready for the 50th Super Bowl!
This month we are featuring two projects that required intensive internal server chassis cleaning. One project was the result of contaminants from a construction project and a second an emergency job as a result of a computer room fire suppression system released into the room.
If you would like your facilities and equipment inspected to see when you require service or the more intensive cleaning services, feel free to contact us to schedule a visit.
As always, if you ever have specific cleaning questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly.
After Data Center Construction
No matter how careful your construction crews are , construction in or around your data center often tracks in harmful contaminants that can put your operation at risk. At a recent job we completed for a major New York financial company we found both sheet-rock dust and contaminates from the work going on during construction coating the surfaces between the racks and inside the telecom equipment and servers. The construction crew had ‘swept up’ but left a lot of issues behind, simply because they are not trained in critical component cleaning techniques and processes.
It is important to understand that computers and rack mounted servers are equipped with small fans designed to promote airflow through the computer cases or rack mounted chassis to aid in keeping components at an acceptable operating temperature.  At the same time those ‘little fans’ inside your computers draw in all sorts of contaminants when construction is being conducted.
Dirt and dust kicked up during construction can damage the internal components of your computer.  These substances tend to ‘stick’ very quickly to almost everything they come into contact with, and that includes not only the your data center walls, floors, exterior computer cases but also the interior components, circuit boards, heat sinks, and other internal components including contacts/connections. Call today to schedule your free critical component inspection.
Cleaning Up After Your Fire System Deploys
Just this past month we were called in for emergency service over a weekend. The emergency was the result of our customer’s Data Center Fire Suppression engaging and the suppression chemicals were deployed.
If this happens to you, hopefully the good news is there was no real damage created.  But depending on the fire suppression chemicals used in your data center or if a hand held extinguisher was used, there is a good chance there is residue that needs to be addressed.
If you continue to run the computer you may actually be ‘baking on’ these harmful substances making future cleanup almost impossible and creating a magnet for future dirt and contaminants. In many cases we recommend an interior chassis cleaning of all electronic components.
When the fire suppression system deploys, time is of the essence so Spec-Clean offers emergency 24 hr. access so that we can schedule an inspection of your equipment and facility, get it cleaned and keep operating efficiently without damaging your equipment and facilities investment.
As always, if you ever have specific cleaning questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Respectfully,
